Anjar

On the same day you visit Baalbek you can visit the ruins of Anjar on your way back to Beirut. You have to get off at Zahle or Chautra. I took the last place and from there the connection to Anjar. To visit the ruins you have to walk about 2,5 kilometres to the entrance. It’s not well posted so keep your eyes open in the minibus. Those ruins are from the Umayyad times in the 8th century and totally different compared to Baalbek. A visit of 45 minutes till one hour is sufficiënt here because the area is not so big like Baalbek. On your way back you can ask for a short ride to other tourists if you don’t want to walk back.
