Madaba and Mount Nebo
From Amman a visit can be made to Mount Nebo. This is the place where Mozes watched over the Promised Land according to the Bible. The mountain offers a fantastic view over the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea with clear weather. With clouded weather, the view is less promising. On the mountain, there’s a church which remembers Mozes and inside there’s an ancient mosaic floor.
The trip can be continued to Madaba which offers a second mosaic floor in St. George Church. The 6th- century mosaic map gives an overview of the setting of the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and the Nile Delta. When you’ve less affinity with the Bible the sight might not too impressive.
