Jerash

Jerash is an old Greek-Byzantine city and the ruins are located ca. 45 kilometres north of Amman. This is an easy day tour which can be made from Amman. At the excavations guides offer their services to give an explanation at the Forum, the Hadrianus Triumphal Arch, the Temple of Artemis and the South Theatre. In the Theatre a local music performance with pipes and drums by Jordan people is offered.

In Jerash there’re good possibilities to buy a souvenir like a headscarf. A Jordan one has a red and white patchwork. Black and white patches on the headscarf are used mainly by Palestinians. So take care when you buy one. Especially in the desert a headscarf can be comfortable for the bright sun.
