Colonia del Sacramento

After Montevideo, Colonia del Sacramento is the second place to visit in Uruguay. This village is located  3,5 hours of travel distance by bus from Montevideo. It is a well-maintained, beautiful and small colonial village and one of the famous places in Uruguay. There are plenty of atmospheric streets and some squares in this village. One of the highlights here not to be missed is the lighthouse. From this building, there’s a beautiful panoramic view of the village. During the walking tour, one thing noticed is that there are sometimes classical cars in the streets which make the picture just perfect. It gives the feeling that the clock is turned back. To stay overnight here is enough, because of its size and all sights can be visited on foot.

From Colonia del Sacramento there is a short 45-minutes boat connection to Buenos Aires in Argentina. This boat departs at the end of the afternoon. After that in Buenos Aires, there’s an opportunity to catch the same night a night bus in the direction of Posadas and Puerto Iguazu in northern Argentina.
