León

León has a nice colonial city centre which is walkable in one day. It offers a lot of colourful buildings and the one to enter is the main cathedral and the central square. From the cathedral you have a beautiful panoramic view of the city and of the nearby volcanoes. Mercado Central is also a lively area to walk around.

Ont the second day you can hike on Cerro Negro and do some volcano boarding. Walking down is also an option. In the afternoon it’s worth considering a tour to the rum factory of Flor de Caña. Nicaragua has excellent rum which is exported all over the world.

To do all the activities which are described here a stay of two full days is enough. You can add a hike to the Teplica Volcano which I didn’t do. That one seems to be more difficult.
