About two hours by bus from Latacunga is the village Baños. The village is well known for its spas and hiking/ biking opportunities. The town is also an excellent spot to book your trip to the Amazon rainforest. A day tour is possible to the rainforest too. I did both but the day tour felt like a tourist trap. Especially when you visit a “local” village where people wear traditional clothes as a business. A much better option for the Amazon rainforest is a visit to Cuyabeno. A full-board trip for four days, three nights was USD 270,- and with transport to Lago Agrio from Baños and back to Quito you’ll have to add about USD 30 extra.
