Potosi is famous for its silver mines which can be visited by a tour. Apart from that Potosi has a nice atmosphere so a stay of two nights is surely recommendable. The first day can be used to explore the city and National Mint of Bolivia. The second day a visit to the mines can be planned. There are possibilities to visit the mines without entering them, especially recommended when health is valuable to you.
Before a visit to the mines, it’s a tradition to visit the Miners’ Market. On this market, miners buy their equipment for mining. This includes coca leaves, dynamite and alcohol to make the working conditions slightly “better”. The office job at home isn’t so bad.
