Maribor is Slovenia’s second-largest city and is closely located to the Austrian border. To the city, there are good connections from Graz and Ljubljana by public transport. The city has a small but well-maintained old town. This part of Slovenia is not so well visited by other tourists. This means there are considerably cheaper accommodation and restaurants.
Maribor has the oldest vine with 400 years and this place has a small museum too. Apart from the old town and the vine a day tour to the old old city of Ptuj is worth considering.
