Ljubljana

Ljubljana is the Slovenian capital and is centrally located in the country. From here it is easy to go by bus to Bled or Postojna or to the Slovenian coast and visit Koper or Piran. The city is well-connected with Zagreb in Croatia by train.

The old town is pleasant just to walk around and you can enjoy its atmospheric streets and excellent restaurants. Apart from that, the Ljubljana castle on the hill is worth visiting. From the castle, there is a panoramic view of the city. Inside the castle is a small museum. Another excursion to consider is a boat trip on the river Ljubljanica which flows through the city centre.

A nice place to walk in is the Tivoli Park just outside the city centre and this place offered during my visit an outdoor photography exposition. For some alternative approaches and art, you can give a visit to the Metelkova commune. This part of the city feels a little bit like Copenhagen’s Christiania.
