Things to do in Bucharest

Bucharest is Romania’s capital and one of Eastern Europe’s largest cities. It has a nice old town with good restaurants and cafés. If you like there is plenty of nightlife. But the capital offers also some sights which were created by the former dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu. For example, the Palace of the Parliament and Ceaușescu Mansion are worth visiting. Not to because you admire this person but because you can wonder about his exuberant behavior and its results.

Apart from these notable buildings, Bucharest offers wide boulevards, old buildings, communist structures, and parks that you can explore. Stray dogs are not bothering you anymore in the city centre. This was a notorious problem in the past.

A day tour can be made to Snagov and Mogoșoaia.

Connections

Bucharest is by train and well-connected to Sinaia, Sibiu, and Brașov. For these three destinations, the train is the most convenient way of traveling.
