Braga
Braga is a city that is well-connected by urban train from Porto. From the São Bento train station in Porto, there are direct connections to Braga. The train journey takes about an hour or slightly more depending on the connection chosen.
Braga is a city with quite a large old town, narrow streets, and excellent restaurants. If you want to escape the crowds in Porto it is an excellent option for a day tour and everything can be organised by yourself.
Inside the city hightlights are Sé de Braga (cathedral), Praça da Republica, Arco da Porta Nova and Jardim de Santa Bárbara. A short bus ride outside the city centre is needed to visit Bom Jesus do Monte. This UNESCO world heritage site offers gardens, statues, a church, and a historic 19th- century cable car.
