Orhei Vechi

One of the most famous sights in Moldova is the monastery of Orhei Vechi. The monastery is situated in a valley next to a river which gives a beautiful panoramic view of the surrounding area. The monastery can be visited by local transport (minibus) from Chișinău but this is not easy. Because you’ll have to switch the bus in a small village in the countryside. There are no clear signs on which bus you’ve to take. During my visit, there was a direct bus back to Chișinău which departed at about 15:30. If you do this excursion by yourself it’s recommended to inform beforehand. Otherwise, there might be a possibility that you’ve to enjoy the countryside for a longer time than planned.
