Lake Balaton

Lake Balaton is the biggest lake in Hungary and a tourist attraction, especially in summer. During my trip, I crossed it by ferry and went to Tihany which is a lovely village. The village itself has a historic Benedictine Abbey and a historic quarter with traditional houses. The village is located on a hill which gives a panoramic view of Lake Balaton and its surrounding areas.

Before continuing your trip to Keszthely on the western side of the lake you can make a stop at Tapolca cave. This underground cave offers some nice photo opportunities but is quite small. It is a good option when it is on your way, a detour is not worth in my opinion.
