Around Shkoder the Komani Lake is not a place to be missed. It’s a fantastic tranquil lake and sometimes it looks like a Norwegian fjord instead of one of the most unknown European places. For your budget, of course, it’s better that it’s Albania. To reach the lake it’s quite an adventure because the road is narrow and winding. On the way different lakes are passed and just before the departure point there’s a dark tunnel in the mountains. The cruise on the Komani Lake lasts about three hours. It’s important to bring your passport because Kosovo is not part of Albanian territory. Otherwise it’s needed to stay overnight because to go back with public transport the same day to Shkoder from the end of the Komani Lake is not possible. The trip back is a detour through Kosovo.
