Things to do in Nur-Sultan

The modern capital Nur-Sultan, previously known as Astana, is a logical place to start a visit to Kazakhstan. This city has modern architecture that can easily compete with other world cities. Nur-Sultan has about only 800.000 inhabitants but everything is huge. There are a lot of open spaces and squares which can only give the conclusion that everything is built for the future. There are no short walks in this city because of the spacious layout. You can easily enjoy and surprise yourself for 1,5 days.

In aspects of architecture and appearance, there were no savings made. Only the irrigation system is a small point of attention. Because a huge shower gives rivers and lakes on the street and if you walk through them the water flows until your ankles. The conclusion is, the focus was on the architecture and not the pavement.

An excellent day trip can be made to Malinovka.

Connections

Nur-Sultan has international flight connections and I arrived through Istanbul. Domestic flight connections are for example to Almaty. Another option to this city is an almost full-day train ride.
