Things to do in Kaindy and Kolsai Lakes
When Kaindy Lake is on your itinerary 4×4 is absolutely needed and for the Kolsai Lakes more or less the same advice is applicable because 35 kilometres of road is a gravel road. The road to Kaindy Lake is adventurous because the car has to cross a river and the road is full of potholes.
A trip with a private driver in a 4×4 without other tourists will set you back about EUR 240,- and this is including accommodation next to the Kolsai lakes. A lot of tourists I met spend only their time in Almaty and just around the city.
Connections
The best connection is to get here is from Almaty. An option might be that you go from Bishkek in Kyrgystan to Almaty and afterwards to this area.
