Things to do in Kagoshima
In Kagoshima, you can visit the Sakurajima volcano. The volcano is still active so only a view on a distance is possible. To get there it is only a short boat trip from Kagoshima. Near the volcano it is possible to find a bus which makes some stops around the volcano and on places which offer panoramic views of Kagoshima.

One night in this city is enough and it’s well connected by train with Kumamoto and Fukuoka.
