Things to do in Dougga
Dougga is an archaeological site with the remains of Berber, Punic and Roman settlements. The site offers a mausoleum, several temples, and a theatre. All the places you can explore by yourself on foot. Dougga is UNESCO World Heritage but has not so many visitors like for example Carthage.
Connections
For the ruins of Dougga you have to take a louage to Teboursouk. It’s recommended to start early in the morning. Because at about 16:00 it seems to get harder to get your transport back to Tunis. By louage it’s about 1,5 hours and after that a taxi needs to be arranged for a return trip from Teboursouk to Dougga. During my visit, the price was 20 Dinars (EUR 6,-). But the effort is worth to consider because the ruins are big, well maintained and a little bit of the tourist trail. During my visit, there were no big touring cars with tourists.
