Things to do in Port Louis and Moka

Port Louis is the capital of Mauritius. It has sights that merge history and modernity seamlessly. I explored there Fort Adelaide, a historic fortress offering panoramic views of the city and the harbor. You can wander through the bustling Caudan Waterfront, where you can shop, dine, and take in the sea breeze. When you are interested in stamps a visit to the the Blue Penny Museum, home to rare stamps is an option to consider.

Just outside Port Louis is the village Moka. The landscape transforms into a lush paradise. There you can find the Eureka Creole House that stands as a beacon of the island’s colonial heritage. This splendid mansion and its gardens provide a glimpse into the opulent plantation era. You can admire here the intricate architecture, stroll amidst tropical flora, and uncover the history that shaped Mauritius.

During my stay in Mauritius I stayed one night in Port Louis. The trip to Moka was a day tour and afterwards I continued my journey to Flic and Flac.

Connections

Port Louis is the main transport hub on the island. It is important to mention that there are two different bus stations. One for the destinations in the north like Grand Baie and the east like Mahebourg. The other bus station is for nearby destinations and the south of the island. For instance, Flic and Flac.
