Things to do in Semonkong

There are many possibilities to see Semonkong and its surroundings. Very relaxed is a tour by Basotho pony. This is even suitable for inexperienced horse riders. The Basotho Pony looks more like a horse because of its size but luckily they don’t like to gallop. A tour to the impressive Maletsunyane Falls nearby Semonkong is advisable too. This waterfall with its 192 metres the highest in Africa. If you need some excitement abseiling from the waterfall is offered. Of course, only when you’re not afraid of heights.

Apart from the excursions mentioned before, there are different guided tours in the village of Semonkong. During these tours, there is a lot to see in aspects of traditional life. This life is elementary but local people are friendly and curious towards foreigners. Outside Semonkong a tour by jeep is worth to participate. As you can see there are plenty of possibilities to spend two full days in Semongkong. During a visit to South Africa a side trip to Lesotho gives a lot of opportunities to experience “real” Africa.
