Introduction to Indiana
In 2013 I’ve made a trip for about two weeks to the United States of America (USA). During this trip, I’ve made a visit to Indianapolis in the state of Indiana where I stayed three nights. The most important reason for the stay was a visit to the Indy 500, which is the biggest racing event in the world.

In Indianapolis there’s Indy Hostel which is an excellent place to stay during the Indy 500. Because from there it was possible to take a bicycle to the Indianapolis Motorspeedway where the Indy 500 takes places. It’s about 13 kilometres by bicycle and there’s an advantage that traffic jams will be skipped. During race day, there will be about 300.000 people or even more.
When visiting the Indy 500 it’s important to keep in mind to have at least one day extra in Indianapolis. This just in case there’s rain during the day of the Indy 500. Because then the race will be postponed until the next day.
Indianapolis has enough to offer to enjoy yourself at least for one day. There are some architectural buildings from which the Capitol and the Indiana World War Memorial Plaza are the most notable ones. The World War Memorial has an excellent museum where you can learn a lot about American history and is definitely worth to give it a visit.
