Things to do in Beppu
Beppu is located at the northeast of Kyushu island. This city is famous for its hot springs which can be visited. Sometimes there are geysers and on other occasions, you see a mud pool. There are many different geysers and mud pools to visit. The area is well-preserved and the feeling is that you walk in a well-maintained park at some occasions which gives it a little surreal experience.
In Beppu they sell bus tickets for transport to the hot springs. The springs are diverse and this is one of the spots in Japan to experience some nature.

Beppu is easy to reach by train from Kumamoto as a day tour when you have the Japan Rail Pass.
