During a stay in Puerto Iguazú in Argentina a visit can be made to the Brazilian side of the Iguazu waterfalls. With this day trip to the Brazilian side, a combined visit to Ciudad del Este and the Itaipu dam in Paraguay is possible. Both sights are located just across the border. Ciudad del Este is known as being a shopping paradise. The city has one of the biggest black markets which can be imagined with cheap electronics and even tasers being sold. In short a lively place but not a market to show your camera a lot and other valuable belongings. A visit to the Itaipu dam is recommendable because it’s one of the biggest dams in the world. An interesting guided tour in Spanish is given.
During a day trip, there’re different border crossings so a car with a driver is the best option to go around. The price was for a whole day about EUR 25,- in 2011 including a visit to Brazil and Paraguay.
