Latacunga
Latacunga is about 80 kilometres south of Quito. The city itself is not the most special place to visit except when Mama Negra is celebrated. This is at the end of September and two days in the whole city are parades with people in traditional clothes and special outfits. The city is in a convenient spot to make a day tour to Cotopaxi National Park and the volcano. Quilotoa crater lake can be visited on a day tour instead of a multi-day hike as well.
