Manaus by its own is not the city to visit. It is the place to start your trips to the Amazones which surround the city. I had an organised tour in which I stayed three nights outside Manaus in the jungle. One night in real nature on a hamock and two nights in a lodge. From there you will make hikes in the nature and visit local villages. The highlights for me were swimming with pink dophins, spotting alligators and fishing piranahas. Alligators were spotted including birds and sloths. Piranahas were catched and it is facinating to see how sharp their teeth are when they use them.
