Things to do in Kutaisi
Kutaisi offers enough sights to visit for half a day. Worth are the centre, the local market and the Bagrati Cathedral. A stay of two nights in Kutaisi is enough. The first day is for the city and the second day can be used for a visit to the caves just outside the city. The caves in Sataplia Nature Reserve and Prometheus Cave are best visited by taxi, which cost in 2014 about EUR 18.- from 10:00 to 15:30 in the afternoon. Both caves have colorful lighting and impressive rock formations.
From Kutaisi, a day tour to Gelati Monastery and Motsameta Monastery is also a possibility. But there are many monasteries in Georgia so the caves are an excellent alternative.
Connections
Kutaisi is one of the larger cities in Georgia and is well-connected to Gori and Tbilisi east of it and to Zugdidi which is located west of it.
