Kairouan is considered one of the most important cities for Muslims in Tunisia. The reason for this is because seven visits to its Great Mosque or Great Mosque of Sidi-Uqba equals a visit to Mecca. The Mosque of Barber and the Aghlabid basins are important places of interest too. In addition, Kairouan has a huge historic medina with traditional white buildings like other Tunisian cities.
